Bruce Tulio: Many Passions, Many Involvements!
How is your life defined? If the answer is that it’s defined by the thing that consumes the most hours in your day, then the answer, unfortunately, is that most of us are marked by our day jobs; career, more than even something like family or friends, tends to drain a lot of our hours and our attention, and can often be the defining thing in our life.
But you don’t have to let it be that way. Consider the case of Bruce Tulio, for example. Bruce Tulio is a businessman, a man who works a standard kind of day job, just like you and me. But to say that he’s just a businessman would be erroneous, or at least a bit misleading. The truth of the matter is, this guy is involved in a lot of different activities and organizations. He is a devoted member of his community, and has thrown his weight behind some worthy causes, in a number of cases receiving some rather remarkable accolades for it. He is also a relentlessly curious fellow, with many different hobbies and favorite activities that keep him busy.
For instance, consider some of the following notes on Bruce Tulio’s resume:
- Bruce Tulio was Co-Chairman for the Alumni fundraising effort to reopen and support Northeast Catholic High School in Philadelphia, which closed its doors last year after 85 years of devoted community service. In other words, here we have a man who is serious about the role that education plays in shaping our communities!
- He is also an avid scuba diver, and former spokesman for the PADI Diver’s Society.
- He is both a retired member and former judge of the “Powder Puff Derby Races” association!
- He is a former participant in Bermuda-bound sailing races.
- And in addition to his many adventures in skiing, sailing, and fundraising, would you believe that Bruce Tulio has been knighted—in two separate countries?
All of this is simply to say that you can’t box this guy in simply by his day job. His life is full of interests and activities—one imagines that his life is never boring.
